System Evaluation & Selection

INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND EVALUATION SELECTION

Information system evaluation and selection is about much more than just choosing a system. IHS helps healthcare organizations make knowledgeable, deliberate selections of the best systems – systems that meet the organization's overall strategic goals and business objectives. IHS also makes sure you know what it will take to implement the system – costs, time and resources – and that your organization is truly geared up to begin the implementation.

IHS' service comprises seven major selection activities:

  1. Organizing the appropriate IHS users to participate in the evaluation and selection process
  2. Analyzing current systems and operations to understand existing operations, system functions and features, as well as user requirements, expectations and priorities
  3. Preparing system requirements for inclusion in a Request for Proposal (RFP) or for use as checklists during vendor demonstrations
  4. Preparing an RFP that accurately reflects vendor hardware, software/service capabilities and costs
  5. Evaluating vendor services and products
  6. Scheduling vendor presentations to examine weaknesses and concerns identified during the evaluation
  7. Conferring with client evaluation groups and executive management to select the vendor that best meets the organization's information system requirements
