INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND EVALUATION SELECTION
Information system evaluation and selection is about much more than just choosing a system. IHS helps healthcare organizations make knowledgeable, deliberate selections of the best systems – systems that meet the organization's overall strategic goals and business objectives. IHS also makes sure you know what it will take to implement the system – costs, time and resources – and that your organization is truly geared up to begin the implementation.
IHS' service comprises seven major selection activities:
- Organizing the appropriate IHS users to participate in the evaluation and selection process
- Analyzing current systems and operations to understand existing operations, system functions and features, as well as user requirements, expectations and priorities
- Preparing system requirements for inclusion in a Request for Proposal (RFP) or for use as checklists during vendor demonstrations
- Preparing an RFP that accurately reflects vendor hardware, software/service capabilities and costs
- Evaluating vendor services and products
- Scheduling vendor presentations to examine weaknesses and concerns identified during the evaluation
- Conferring with client evaluation groups and executive management to select the vendor that best meets the organization's information system requirements
